Toddler Easter Basket Gift Guide

I’m in the camp of moms who enjoys the thinking, the research, the price comparisons, and the shopping involved in gift-giving. For those moms who either don’t enjoy this or who don’t have the time, gift guides and one-click shopping can be a beautiful thing. Just ask my husband how beautiful it is that I have access to such immediate shopping. Since Easter is upon us, I put together a baby/toddler Easter basket gift guide for your viewing – or buying – pleasure.

I like to take a long view when shopping for gifts, so the items included below are both practical and seasonal.

Seasonal pajamas are always big in my book because they are so cute, your child needs to sleep in something, and no one is there to judge you when you put your child to bed wearing “On Santa’s Nice List” PJ’s in February…or July.  You won’t see any blue bunny PJ’s because GAP has already sold out of that style, so I just included some cute timeless blue stripe pajamas.

My daughter resists drinking water, but her excitement to drink from a fun bunny cup with a straw seems to completely disable her taste buds and she gulps down the water. “Mission Drink More” accomplished.

I included art supplies because they can make seasons come to life on paper. I recently learned that while thicker crayons are easier for toddlers to wield, they promote the fist grip. Thinner crayons and pencils encourage toddlers to use the correct pinch grip that writing requires, so I figure why not start introducing the regular size art supplies along with the thicker kind.

These shape-and-color-matching eggs are so multi-functional and seasonal! Not only do they develop color and shape identification, they also help develop fine motor skills when taking them apart or putting them back together. Now that my two-year-old is more interested in imaginary play, they can also serve as pretend eggs in her kitchen!

I love when sisters match or brothers match, but since I have a girl and a boy, I do my best to coordinate outfits for special occasions. I know I won’t be able to dress them forever, so I better grab the chance while I have it. Spring pictures may just be in order.

[xyz-ihs snippet=”Books”]

I’m a huge fan of festive books because they reinforce the holiday and the love of reading. We own The Itsy Bitsy Bunny (can be sung to the tune of Itsy Bitsy Spider, my daughter’s favorite as a baby), and I plan to add the others to our Easter/Spring collection this year.

Speaking of multi-functional, how about trying a sand pail as an Easter basket that can be used all summer long! I love the carton baskets not only because of the $1 price point, but they can also be used in a variety of ways. I’m a sucker for traditional looking baskets, so I included some woven bamboo baskets, too.

Please share some of your favorite baby and toddler Easter basket items! I always love hearing about the greatest hits with your kids.

Katie Addiss
Eleven years of OC living, seven years of teaching high school English, a husband, and two babies later, Katie is now experimenting with stay-at-home mom life. She used to think staying at home was easier than teaching full time, but after having two she’s not so sure. She has found that writing allows her to ponder the joys and struggles of motherhood while using vocabulary that contains more than one syllable. Katie is always open to life’s possibilities except when those possibilities interfere with nap schedules. If there were hidden cameras in her house, they would show her eating treats far too often to call them “treats” and sipping on the same coffee throughout the day. She also does her fair share of cooking, social media stalking, pinteresting, and podcast listening. When she used to have time for hobbies, she enjoyed coffee shop hopping, Netflix binging, shopping, decorating, crafting, and DIY’ing.
